View larger: Screenshot of Prosocyal's start page with Per's pink notes: too much information, is “Product” the right word, the British flag excludes many English-speaking countries, and the site is “an orgy of icons”.
  • View larger: Review: creating an account (in Swedish): The sign-up form with notes: a lot of text just to create an account, asking for company instead of password is unusual – and “Register” could get a voice, like “Create your awesome 30-day free account!”.
  • View larger: Review: getting started (in Swedish): The first view after logging in, with notes: Where am I? What am I expected to do? The icons aren't explained, the video takes too much space, and why not create a search term for the company name automatically?
  • View larger: Idea sketches: design principles (in Swedish): Less is more. Minimize the number of menu choices. Tone down the icons. Highlight what helps me move forward. Think “flow”. Simplify the menu, fewer pages.
  • View larger: Idea sketch: a new start page (in Swedish): Wireframe of a calmer start page: three clear benefits, one “Try free for 30 days” button and a single customer quote.
  • View larger: Idea sketch: search phrases (in Swedish): Wireframe of the search phrase view: a simple form for a new phrase with checkboxes for sources on the left, and a clear table of existing phrases with edit and pause actions.
  • View larger: Idea sketch: sorting hits (in Swedish): Wireframe of the sorting view: hits listed with source and sentiment faces, and clear actions per row – answer, create case, archive.

Expert review, new interaction design and an action plan for Prosocyal, a web tool companies used to monitor and manage their social media.

  • The tool let companies listen to what customers said about them in social media, answer in real time and handle each conversation as a case that could be delegated.
  • In January 2012 I walked through the tool as a new customer would – from the start page and sign-up to search phrases, sorting and cases – annotating every screen, then sketched a simpler flow in wireframes.
  • I reviewed the existing tool and redesigned the interaction for the rebuilt version – “decisive in creating an easy-to-use experience”, according to Andreas Ahrens at Prosocyal.
